Facebook and Other Social Media Reach More People

The #1 Way to reach prospective interested persons and connect with current members is via Social Media like Facebook, Snap Chat, Instagram, Reddit, WhatsApp?, Forums, Pinterest, Nextdoor, X/Twitter, and Youtube.

  • Get a Facebook Page and/or Group. Make sure to have multiple admins.
  • Publicize your events on Facebook (either unpaid or paid).
  • Post and post OFTEN. Post on other rose-related sites, build reciprocal online relationships.

Build Your Website, Update Your Website, and They Will Come

If you have a website (great!), keep it updated. Websites should have:

  • Meeting dates, times and locations
  • Event dates, times and location/directions, who/how to contact for more information
  • Updated rose information
  • Special event pages.
  • Websites should have clear options to easily join the Society right from the website.

Getting the Word Out – Community Involvement

Making your meetings interesting, hands-on and informative is key. If your society’s meeting is something you are excited about attending, then you will invite others to come with you. Create the atmosphere and culture of value and fun. Encourage member’s attending to bring others. Be SURE to mention every time, you post, chat, dialog or list an event or meeting, that you do not have to be a member to attend, that general public rose enthusiasts are welcome. Other local advertising opportunities:

  • Member’s church or synagogue’s newsletters/websites
  • Library bulletin boards
  • Botanical garden websites, listings and brochure racks
  • PSA (public service announcements)
  • Flyers at local mom and pop garden centers (ask before posting)
